Abstract

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of the utilization and processing of coal sludge, which is a byproduct of coal mining and processing. The thesis describes the origin, chemical-physical properties of the sludge, their storage, and the associated environmental impacts. The focus of the thesis is on the possibility of their disposal through reusing, particularly the option of combustion. Based on this, the thesis includes, among other things, a review of conventional combustion methods and related emission measurement and reduction techniques. The practical part provides a description of the sludge processing through pelletization and its subsequent combustion in an experimental fluidized bed boiler. The combustion experiment includes an evaluation of the generated emissions, including a comparison with calculated stoichiometry. A template for the stoichiometric calculation is included in the attachment of the thesis.
