This master thesis concerns the safety functions of 8HP automatic gearbox. In the introductory part, an international standard for functional safety of road vehicles ISO 26262 is introduced, followed by brief technical analysis of the 8HP automatic gearbox and functional description of individual components. Next part of this thesis is dedicated to chosen safety functions and their more in depht description, analysis and delimination of components which are involved in those safety functions of the gearbox. Practical part consists of testing of those chosen safety function, in the vehicle that is equipped with the 8HP transmission, in HIL environment and their qualitative analysis.
