Abstract

The Master thesis is dedicated to dealing with issues related to Roots blowers and is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. In the first theoretical part it describes the research on the topic of positive displacement and dynamic compressors, emphasising the Roots blowers, their history, working process and construction. This part also mentions measuring devices and quantities of compressors in general, especially pressure, temperature, and flow. The practical part of the thesis deals with an experiment in the laboratory, which uses so-called bypass to overcharge the working space of the blower in order to determine the effect on the change in power input of the unit. Auxiliary calculations are performed from the measured data and the results are subjected to analysis, including graphs and compressor characteristics. The results then show that it is possible to influence the power consumption of the Roots blower with this solution.
