Abstract

FUKSA, Pavel. Analysis of Trends in Accessories for Modern Sniper Rifles. Ostrava, 2026. Bachelor’s thesis. Ostrava: VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Design Engineering. Thesis supervisor: Col. Prof. Ing. Martin Macko, CSc. This bachelor’s thesis deals with the analysis of trends in accessories for modern sniper rifles, with an emphasis on optical sights, muzzle devices, mounting interfaces, and ergonomic elements of weapon systems. The introductory chapters first briefly characterize the historical development of sniper rifles, their basic structural components, commonly used calibers, and provide an overview of contemporary weapon platforms. This theoretical framework is followed by a representative overview of selected modern sniper rifles and optical sights, which enables the accessories to be placed within a specific technical and tactical context. The core part of the thesis focuses on the materials and manufacturing technologies used in the production of accessories, their influence on the accuracy, stability, and ergonomics of the weapon system, and on the identification of the main development trends since the year 2000. The thesis concludes with a conceptual design of a modern sniper rifle system with accessories and an evaluation of its suitability for practical use under the conditions of contemporary armed forces
