Abstract
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a gas-fired cogeneration unit with a combustion engine for covering the energy needs of a model 1.5 ha commercial greenhouse located near Litovel, Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the structural and energy aspects of modern greenhouses, the principles and components of cogeneration units and flue gas treatment technologies including selective catalytic reduction (SCR). In the practical part, an hourly heat balance model of the greenhouse is developed using real ERA5 meteorological data for the period 2021÷2025. Based on the model results, 3 cogeneration units with a total electrical output of 2 997 kW and a total thermal output of 3 216 kW are designed, covering 86 % of the annual heat demand while simultaneously producing carbon dioxide suitable for greenhouse atmosphere enrichment.
