Abstract

The main theme of this master’s thesis is design of the lower-block locking system used for offshore crane. In the thesis are decribed cranes, offshore cranes used for many purposes in diffrend kind of industry and structural design of crane‘s boom. The thesis continues with description of issue lower-block locking. If the lower block is not locked or blocked, then it may damage vessel equipment. Final solution is picked from several design options. Solution of lower block lock is designed in detail. The lock is based on jamed spindle by pawl. Pawl movement is provided by linear hydraulic actuator with back pushing spring. The lock is fixed to guiding pipe placed in between the boom head and the lower block wire rope sheaves.
