The diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of the current state of the Athens International Airport and the possibility of using the simultaneous operation of parallel runways. The thesis examines the procedures and pitfalls associated with the operation of parallel tracks and proposes modeling and simulation of these scenarios using the Witness software. The main goal of the work is to build a model of the airport and simulate different scenarios of operation on parallel runways. The work focuses on the identification of key factors influencing airport operations and quantifies the difference between the current style of airport operation management and the style using simultaneous operation of parallel runways.
