Abstract

This thesis deals with modelling of water flow inside a suction sump. The suction sump in question is an integral part of an existing cooling circuit (cooling centre). The reason for this modelling is the non-standard shape of the suction sump and the planned increase in flow rate within the sump. This increase in flow rate is due to the connection of an additional device (a turbogenerator) to the existing cooling centre. In connection with the increased flow rate, an additional regulating pump will be added to the suction pit. The introduction describes the current state and provides a brief overview of the cooling system. Based on the input parameters, several characteristic operating modes are identified and subsequently modelled. The created models are evaluated and further modified. The resulting model, along with additional recommendations and outputs, is presented.
