Abstract
This master's thesis analyzes the financial performance of a company that produces building materials. The thesis describes the methodology and approaches used to measure and evaluate financial performance, including methods for identifying influences on a chosen financial indicator. The company's financial performance is assessed using financial analysis, credit and bankruptcy models, and other approaches. The primary performance measure used is economic value added (EVA), measured in absolute and relative terms. The cost of equity required to calculate EVA is calculated using the modular model and the CAPM-SML market model for comparison purposes. The pyramid decomposition of EVA is also used in the static analysis and variance analysis (dynamic deviation analysis) to quantify the effects of sub-indicators on EVA. It turned out that EVA in absolute and relative terms is significantly affected by the selected factors, while the effect of other indicators is rather moderate. Finally, the financial performance of the selected company is compared to the performance of other companies in the building materials production industry.
