Abstract

This thesis deals with rounding of the cutting edge inserts depending on its durability during milling. I explore the cutting edge rounding at the inserts LNGX 120508ER-M produced by the Pramet Tools Company Ltd. In the introduction, there are described aspects that affect the tool life in milling. I measure the size of the cutting edge radius, to find the size before cutting. I continue milling the cutting edge fillets at approximately 30, 50, 70 microns. The material 12 050.9 is machined and I evaluate the durability of the indexable cutting inserts and the surface quality of the machined material. Based on these information I choose the optimum rounding of the cutting edge, depending on the durability and quality of the surface.
