Abstract

The master´s thesis deals with the evaluation of the quality of cutting surfaces of selected technical materials after cutting using a high-speed abrasive water jet. The work is divided into two main parts. The first theoretical part describes some unconventional methods of machining which are compared with each other according to selected parameters used during the material cutting. The second part focuses on an experiment which compares the quality of cutting surfaces after cutting by the high-speed abrasive water jet at different preset parameters. Finally, results of the experiment (i.e. appearance, roughness and quality of the cutting surface) are evaluated in connection with the jet parameters and the type of technical materials. Detailed experimental data and obtained results, including specification of the devices used, are listed in the Annex.
