Abstract
The diploma thesis focuses on the investigation of suction performance of hydrodynamic pump, resulting in a visual comparsion with experimental measurements at three different flow rates and an analysis of the associated NPSH curves. The introductory part provides a brief description and classification of hydrodynamic pumps, includig their main structural components and performance parameters. This is followed by a discussion of cavitation and its characteristics. To introduce the practical part, the thesis describes numerical modeling, Two-phase flow, SST k-ω turbulence model and the Zwart-Gerber-Belamri cavitation model. The subsequent chapter is dedicated to the description of the pump geometry, mesh generation, and model preparation in the pre-processor. Finally, the results of the numerical simulations are presented and compared with experimental data.
