Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the verification of the effect of boundary conditions of casting on the size of porosity of 50-ton heavy forging ingot. The thesis is divided into three main sections where the first part focuses on the specifics of the production technology of heavy forging ingots, on description of the casting system, on methods of ingot casting and the most commonly occurring defects. The second part deals with methods of evaluation of the volume defects and chemical heterogeneity of heavy forging ingots, identification and quantification of defects, determination of the chemical composition and prediction of the volume defects using a numerical modelling. Also, the analysis of international knowledge in this field is discussed. In the third part of the diploma thesis, the experimental numerical modelling of solidification of 50-ton heavy forging ingot is described and the effect of the boundary conditions of the casting on the final volume range of the porosity is discussed.
