Abstract
This thesis deals with the study of the influence of the size of clay inorganic components and of their age on brittle-fracture properties of vitreous enamel coatings. It deals with appropriateness of use of calcined kaoline at enamelling and on their brittle-fracture properties as well. On the basis of practically conducted experiments the complex evaluation of influences had been processed in terms of their influence on the quality of vitreous enamel coatings, i.e. its hardness, fracture toughness, impact resistance and appearance.
Results from experiments show that finely ground clays positively influence brittle-fracture properties of vitreous enamels. They reduce microhardness and increase fracture toughness. At the same time it was demonstrated that maturity of finely ground clays positively influence brittle-fracture properties of enamels. Results also confirm the appropriateness of utilization of calcined kaoline in enamelling. However it is necessary to adjust the baking time.
Mentioned influences are described in detail, evaluated and they contribute to the enamel coat application in practice.
