Abstract

This master thesis deals with the appropriate choice of transportation equipment for conveying sand to a height of twenty meters at a rate of thirty-five tons per hour. The introductory part of the thesis is dedicated to the research of suitable transportation equipment and introduction of the properties of the transported material. The conclusion of this research section is focused on the selection of the most suitable conveyor for the given conditions. The most suitable option was found to be a bucket conveyor, which is equipped with a filling method using buckets. This method was ensured by the application of a vertical screw conveyor, which carries the sunken sand from the bottom of the elevator back into the hopper. All main parts of the conveyor are supported by calculation. Plotting of the sand grain’s trajectory in the process of dumping is also an essential part of my work. Finally, the tension and deformation of the drive drum was checked using the finite element method. The last output of this work is the drawing documentation of this transport device.
