Abstract
This bachelor thesis focuses on the structural design and topology optimization of a rear brake caliper bracket for a racing motorcycle. The objective is to reduce the weight of the component while increasing its stiffness and ensuring the required factor of safety. The process began with 3D scanning and structural analysis of the original part to determine the boundary conditions. Based on this, a new model defining the design space was created and used for topology optimization in the Altair Inspire software. Selective Laser Melting (SLM) was chosen as the manufacturing technology. The designed bracket, made of high-strength M300 maraging steel, achieves a weight saving of 40% compared to the original solution while maintaining the specified safety factor.
