Abstract

This Master’s thesis deals with the design of a press for forming the obverse and reverse sides of coins and medals. Within the scope of this work, a study was conducted on the historical development of coin and medal production techniques, as well as the current state of the entire technological process. Subsequently, a hydraulic press capable of forming both sides of coins and medals was designed. The required pressing force was determined, and individual components of the press, including the hydraulic cylinder itself, were designed. Strength analysis and dimensioning were performed both analytically and using the Finite Element Method (FEM). The design takes into account valid technical and safety standards, as well as structural and ergonomic principles.
