Abstract

This Master’s thesis explores the field of machine vision and its practical applications. The first part analyzes the fundamentals of digital images and their processing, describing available methods and techniques. It also presents existing machine vision tasks available at the school department. Subsequently, the thesis introduces the specific task to which machine vision is applied: identifying the position of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and the subsequent recalculation of drilling coordinates. All hardware and software components are described in detail. The practical section focuses on testing individual components, which are then integrated into a functional system supported by a custom-developed application. This application is thoroughly documented. Furthermore, the thesis covers the manufacturing of PCBs for task testing and the subsequent drilling process. The work concludes with an evaluation of the results and suggestions for future steps to improve or further advance the system.
