Abstract
Bachelor thesis presents a research study analysing robotic systems designed for deployment in extreme environments, such as zones with high radiation, extreme temperatures, high hydrostatic pressure, or explosive atmospheres. The first part defines these environments and categorizes available mobile platforms. The main part focuses on material engineering and specific design solutions that ensure the survival of the machines (e.g., pressure compensation, physical shielding, or ATEX certification). Furthermore, the thesis analyses sensory and control systems essential for autonomous operation and demonstrates technological limits through real-world case studies. Finally, current trends and strategic goals of the European Union regarding infrastructure protection and ecology are mapped.
