Abstract
The aim of this master's thesis is to reduce the changeover time of an assembly line at Maxion Wheels Czech s.r.o. The theoretical part describes lean management and the key tools of lean production, focusing on the SMED methodology and waste elimination. The practical part analyzes the current setup process using the time study method and identifies bottlenecks in the changeover procedures. Based on a detailed analysis of the time requirements for individual professions, technical and organizational improvements were proposed. These adjustments would result in a total reduction of the changeover process by 39 minutes. The conclusion of the thesis provides an economic evaluation, where a cost of €3.75 per minute represents a saving of €146.25 per setup. The primary outcome of the thesis is a more efficient changeover process, a reduced error rate, and an increase in available production time.
