Abstract
The processed diploma thesis deals with the structural design and strength verification of a luggage shelf intended for the interior of a passenger railway carriage. The main objective was to design a structure that meets the requirements for safety, functionality, and esthetics in accordance with European standards EN 12663 and UIC regulations 566 and 562.
As part of the work, a 3D geometry of the shelf was created and subsequently subjected to numerical analysis using the Finite Element Method (FEM) in the Ansys software. The calculation included various load cases, including static loading and point stress. Critical points and bolted joints underwent detailed force verification using specialized KISSsoft software according to the VDI 2230 methodology. The simulation results demonstrated that the proposed shelf design satisfies both stiffness and strength requirements, with all deformations remaining within the elastic limit of the material. The output of the work is a comprehensive summary of the entire design process, with technical documentation and detailed calculation reports included in the appendices of this diploma thesis.
